Why not use GifComponents?

I've been looking at the GifComponents library, and it seems to have an excellent set of unit tests and good code quality. (http://gifcomponents.sourceforge.net/). Why isn't ImageTools just using that library instead of re-inventing the wheel? It's under the CPOL, which (I believe) is MsPl and MIT compatible. (http://www.codeproject.com/info/cpol10.aspx).

Good point, just because it is new for me ;)

Do you want to make the encoder and decoder? ;)

Actually, I'm interested in doing that. I need to get a good GIF and 8-bit PNG encoder that works under low-trust. I've written GIF decoders and encoders before (a couple of years ago), so this isn't new territory for me.

Curious - does ImageTools use an optimized version of FJCore? I saw this interesting stack and got curious...

And a last curiosity question, if I get the author to release under the MIT license, would this be helpful?: http://code.google.com/p/pngcs/ He's only GPL'd it due the SharpZipLib usage, which could easily be replaced with DotNetZip source code (MIT) instead.

Thanks,
Nathanael

Update - after several months of trying to get in contact with the author of some parts of GifComponents, it doesn't seem like we'll be able to get GifComponents off the CPOL license... So much for that idea.

Guess I'll have to add write support to my own implementation... Might take a while.
